Along The Fall Line Road

During the early part of my CCMS appointment, I contributed to a RIFF-funded creative research project (Along the Fall Line Road: Stories of Family, Place & Migration, Grant R17030). The project, under the leadership of Dr. Melissa Price explores the similarities between the Southern United States and Emirati cultures, particularly regarding the core values of family, religion, and region.

Dr. Price, having moved from England to Dubai, was struck by these cultural parallels and used the historical "Fall Line Road" (a significant migration route in the American South) as a narrative thread to explore these themes of identity and migration.Through two weeks of field-based documentary production in the United States, I provided video, photographic, and audio support of this i-doc project’s research and dissemination activities

The work is included in the book Storytelling: Global Reflections on Narrative, published by Brill.
